What Drives Me To Do What I Do?
If I had a quarter for every time I’ve been asked that question, I’d have a lot of quarters! I realize that from the outside looking in, it may seem atypical to be intimately involved in another person’s divorce, separation or other family law situation. The answer for me is, perhaps, surprisingly personal. I lost my dad when I was just 10 years old. It was a sudden and unexpected loss. As a result, I found out what it was like to grow up without a father figure in a single-parent household.
I truly felt like a significant part of me was missing; it was a challenge, to say the least, to go through my school years without a male role model. It’s an awful feeling to have your father, or any parent for that matter, abruptly removed from your life. This is part of the reason I work so hard to provide clients the best possible care and attention—I know it’s not easy for them, and it’s especially stressful and confusing for their children who need the extra guidance to help them adjust and understand the complexities of divorce and/or custody arrangements.
For better or worse, that experience formed who I am today. It is also a large part of why I am completely committed to our clients and their families. My struggles made me keenly aware of how critical it is to receive support for any type of family division, whether it be from sudden loss or calculated dissolution of marriage. I have since made it my mission to ensure that clients come away from the process with their family bond intact and a new lease on life.
Everyone Deserves a New Beginning
In all aspects of my practice, I help my clients with mindfulness and compassion since I know firsthand what it feels like to experience that emptiness, sadness, and hopelessness that goes hand-in-hand with losing a loved one. I strive to uphold all aspects of people’s needs—mental, social, and physical—with a holistic approach. I’ve found that this method allows both parties to maintain dignity, respect and trust while getting the results they seek and the new beginning that they deserve.
Walking on Fire Lead to My “WHY” Moment
I’ve always asked myself the question, “What more can I do to serve the world?” The pivotal moment where I could clearly answer this question came during a four-day intensive program with the incomparable Tony Robbins at his Unleash the Power Within (UPW) seminar.
I took my team to UPW with the intention of helping us move out of our comfort zones so that we can push past limitations to achieve our highest goals. It was there that something even greater materialized. We walked on fire, had many breakthroughs, and were transformed. It was at that point in time where the commitment was made to change lives, help people be better versions of themselves, and to unleash the love and power inside each of us.
We all returned home with a determination to take massive action—and our plan to create a movement of empowering and enriching the lives of our clients and community was born. Our ultimate purpose is to not only support our clients and their families as they transition into a new family dynamic but to give them the gift of a new, better, future.
